OWA+Quartier - Sustainable refurbishment and energy supply for the historic Otto-Wagner-Areal towards a plus-energy district
Development of thermal and electrical energy supply for the Otto-Wagner-Areal as well as model solutions for construction and building services in order to initiate the redevelopment of the area in the direction of a plus-energy district.
OWA’s future - Otto Wagner Area: A trend-setting transformation from a medical institution into a NEB neighbourhood
Development of qualitative and quantitative planning objectives as well as an implementation strategy for the transformation of the Otto Wagner Area along the New European Bauhaus guidelines. The basis is formed by interdisciplinary expert forums, which provide important insights for the necessary transformation of existing areas and buildings in other cities as well.
OctoAI: The next generation of high-performance edge AI for smart buildings
Current IoT (Internet of Things) solutions for buildings depend almost exclusively on cloud infrastructure and cloud-based services. In the OctoAI project, we are developing the next generation of high-performance Edge AI (Artificial Intelligence) for smart buildings. In OctoAI, we combine the concept of edge AI with user-centric energy services and test two edge-ready applications.
OttoWagner-ArealPlus - Feasibility study for a certified plus-energy-district-renovation of the listed Otto-Wagner-Area
Development of an innovative concept for the transformation of the Viennese Otto-Wagner-Area into a plus-energy-quartier while meeting requirements of cultural heritage management. The historic architectural jewel covers an area of around 50 hectares, consists of 70 buildings and a gross floor area of around 200,000 m². The solution meets highest energy efficiency standards and comfort requirements.
P2PQ - Peer2Peer im Quartier
The research project Peer2Peer im Quartier deals with applications optimizing the selfconsumption of PV-generated energy within urban quarters by enabling peer-to-peer relations among energy prosumers based on Blockchains. Aim is to develop and validate these applications in real operation.
PEQBacker: Integrated District Planning - Enabler on the way to a Plus-Energy District
Development of guidelines for the implementation of Plus-Energy District coordination units based on research of success factors, exploration of mission elements of existing structures and consultation of a broad stakeholder group with the goal of increasing the transformation of existing and emerging neighbourhoods toward Plus-Energy Districts.
PLAISIR - Planning Innovation: Learning form socially innovative energy projects
PLAISIR analyses social innovation in energy projects located in peripheral region in order to understand their role in energy transition processes and to give recommendations for energy-oriented, endogenous regional development policy.
PVOPTI-Ray, Optimization of reflecting materials and photovoltaics in urban environment with respect to energy balance and bioclimate.
Within the scope of the project PVOPTI_Ray the influence of reflection and energy balance on the performance of building integrated photovoltaics (PV) in complex urban environment have been investigated. Equally the influence of PV modules and of the energy conversion of solar energy at the PV module surface has an impact on micro climate and therefore also on pedestrians who are exposed to the radiation fluxes. This was also investigated.
ParaSol - Multifunctional solar canopies for urban streets and places
With the city of Leoben as a use case this exploratory project will, for the first time ever, examine the spatial effects, synergy- and energy potentials of newly developed wide-span light-weight solar canopies for streets and squares in urban public space as well as their implications on the townscape, the image of the city and the city function.
Path to the Future (WEG zur Zukunft) - The Path to Implementing a Climate-Resilient Future in Condominium Ownership
The research project "WEG zur Zukunft / Path to the Future" examines the low renovation rates of condominium owners' associations (WEGs) in Austria and the associated communicative, regulatory, organizational, and financial challenges. In collaboration with the affected stakeholders – primarily owners and property management companies – foundations for solutions are being developed through a co-creative process that can assist in the path toward implementation.
PersonAI - User-Centered AI-based energy services built on personal preference models
Conduct a large-scale, long-term study with 40-50 people to create personal comfort profiles to increase comfort in buildings. The personal comfort profiles will then be fed back into the building control system as input variables in a proof-of-concept.
PhaseOut – Heat pump technologies in the renovation of existing buildings
The aim is the conception, optimization, implementation, demonstration and evaluation of innovative, minimally invasive renovation solutions (thermal renovation and heating system replacement) with heat pumps and PV in multi-storey buildings on seven identical buildings. The comprehensive comparison includes various technical solution variants based on modular and scalable building technology systems as well as multifunctional building components for the exchange of decentralized gas heating by central, semi-central and decentralized heat pump solutions.
Photonic Cooling – Efficient cooling of buildings through the use of photonic
Within the scope of the project a photonic cooling approach was investigated and evaluated in terms of feasibility and cost efficiency for building applications. In particular cost-efficient photonic surfaces and concepts were investigated which need to have a high reflectivity in of the incident solar radiation (>97%) and a high emission coefficient within the spectral range of 8 – 13 micrometer in order to enable the emission of heat into the sky.
Piezo-Klett: Development of piezoelectric hook-and-loop application for the energy supply of active sensor technology in the building industry
The present project considered buildings, parts of buildings and their joints (component nodes) as energy generators by using the hook-and-loop fastener in combination with the piezoelectric effect to perform a so-called energy harvesting.
Pioneer City - Partnership for Climate Neutral Cities 2030
With its participation in the "Mission:Klimaneutrale Stadt", the City of Innsbruck is pursuing the goal of setting the course for achieving climate neutrality. In addition to the creation of structures within the city administration, climate-effective measures are being tested in the existing "Eichhof"-residential quarter together with the stakeholders. Successful measures shall then be implemented throughout the city. The intensive exchange with the other pioneer cities, the conscious use of synergy and the associated broad spectrum of knowledge and experience are necessary resources for the implementation of this project
PioneerCityDornbirn - Transformation of the city of Dornbirn towards a climate-neutral city.
The project "PioneerCityDornbirn" aims to transform the city of Dornbirn towards climate neutrality. Internal competencies are being developed, processes are being improved, and initial implementations are being driven forward to support the decarbonization of the city by 2040.
Plan4.Energy – methodological set for the planning support of positive energy districts
Plan4.Energy develops a set of methods to support the planning of positive energy districts.
