Much has already been achieved within the framework of regional and international co-operation. This sustainable path was initiated with the introduction of an environmental department in 1986. Since then, a great deal has been achieved, particularly within the town's own sphere of influence, including joining the Climate Alliance, the e5 programme (auditing with 5e and the European Energy Award GOLD), joining the Covenant of Mayors and as part of the KEM and KLAR! Murtal.

The municipality can build on previous activities and, on the one hand, work in greater depth on those areas that are relevant to achieving climate neutrality in 2040 and, on the other hand, also consider other areas that are relevant to achieving the goals at town level, such as the area of commercial and industrial enterprises. This project thus combines successfully implemented measures and activities, incorporates areas outside the direct sphere of influence of the municipality and adds new aspects that have not yet been addressed.

The Municipality of Judenburg is continuously working on improving the climate and energy situation under the guiding principle of "climate protection with staying power". A climate neutrality roadmap is being developed as a targeted work programme for the coming years and decades in order to bundle the town's ambitions and bring other stakeholders on board.

Real climate protection measures are long overdue. Judenburg is not only a pioneer in this project, but has been for a long time, but more is needed. With the climate neutrality roadmap, we want to pool our city's expertise and strengths in order to protect the global climate together and keep Judenburg worth living in.
