TIKS Technologies and innovations for the climate-neutral city
The Ministry of Climate Action and Energy (BMK) and the Climate and Energy Fund have been committed to the sustainable development of cities through their RTI programs since 2010. The focus of these programs is on innovative strategies, technologies and solutions that enable cities and their residents to transition to an energy-efficient and climate-friendly way of living and working. The aim is to increase individual quality of life on the one hand and to strengthen cities as business locations in the long term on the other.
"Technologies and innovations for the climate-neutral city" are addressed in annual calls for proposals in order to contribute to the development of climate-neutral and resilient cities. The calls for proposals are aimed at all stakeholders involved in research and development issues in this field.
The TIKS program supports research, technology developments and innovations for climate-neutral cities and pursues the following strategic goals:
- positive climate impact and decarbonization
- Increasing resource, material and energy efficiency
- Increasing the proportion of renewable energy sources and materials
- Building and transferring knowledge, particularly for urban learning processes
- Positioning cities as pioneers of accelerated infrastructural, economic and social change
