10., Rothneusiedl - climate model district Rothneusiedl: Preparation for the planned EU mission "New European Bauhaus"
Rothneusiedl will become a pioneering district for climate protection, climate adaptation and the circular economy. The existing RothNEUsiedl Charter outlines nine principles for making the district climate-friendly and inclusive. The dialogical and integrated process involves various target groups, including the planning and construction industry, future residents and businesses, in order to establish a local building culture at an early stage. NEB working principles are applied in order to support the parallel mission statement process.
2320climate-neutral - Climate-neutral Schwechat 2040
The City of Schwechat has been actively committed to climate protection for over 25 years and has been a member of the Climate Alliance since 1999. In 2023, it once again set strong climate protection signals with the adoption of guidelines for energy and climate protection funding. This commitment continues in 2024, with measures such as the mobility concept and the urban climate analysis.
AI4FM - Artificial Intelligence for Facility Management
AI-based anomaly and fault detection in buildings. Digital twins of buildings with simulation models for testing and optimizing rule-based fault detection methods. Mining of the recorded time-series data from existing Building Management Systems to train Machine Learning models for fault detection.
Climate Quarter Melk
Radical and comprehensive transformation of a city quarter in the small town of Melk, Lower Austria, involving the areas of urban planning, landscape architecture, traffic planning and co-creation - demonstrated by the implementation and rededication of a parking lot to an urban, inner-city climate forest within project life-time.
Climate-School-Life - Preparation of the climate-neutral educational campus in Gratwein-Straßengel
The project aims to start the transformation process of the educational campus of the market town of Gratwein-Straßengel into climate-neutrality. The need for the expansion and modernisation of the elementary school forms the central part of this development. The project provides an integrated district concept for the four central infrastructure topics of the project: urban development, architecture, mobility and energy. Participation processes of the population and innovative financing models are further components of the exploration.
ESSBAR – Edible balcony gardens for retrofit – Vertical Greening Technologies for the City
Demonstration of an affordable, resource-saving and innovative balcony system with integrated edible vertical gardens and rainwater management. Considering the needs of residents for green outdoor spaces and the active participation of residents are an important part of the project.
FavoriteFlows – Innovative solutions for water and energy cycles in buildings for a climate fit city
Demonstration of detailed planning work and implementation of water cycles (building-integrated constructed wetland wastewater treatment) and energy cycles (wastewater heat exchanger) on a large residential apartment development for climate resilience, resource efficiency and high living standard.
Flucco+ - Flexible user comfort in quarter-hourly CO2-neutral Positive Energy Districts (PED)
The aim of the project is to improve the planning basis for the construction and operation of energy flexible buildings in three specific areas. First the further development of existing models of thermal comfort for dynamic situations, second the quantification of future energy grid usefulness and third the holistic testing of the developed comfort and CO2 model at three potential positive energy districts (PED), taking into account the ecological assessment as well as the life cycle costs.
Further Investigations and Monitoring of the Green Walls at GRG7 Kandlgasse
Following on from the completed research project "GrünPlusSchule", in which various greening measures were implemented at and in a school in Vienna's 7th district (GRG7), this follow-up project takes up further unanswered questions and is dedicated to detailed measurement data evaluations of the effects of indoor and outdoor greening.
GLASGrün - Regulation of climate, energy demand and comfort in GLASS buildings through structurally integrated vertical GREEN
Development of vertical vegetation systems for summergreen shading of glass facades of food retail and commercial areas. GLASGrün generates quantitative data on energy and microclimate balance and qualitative data on user perception. The results are guidelines for scalable and transferable constructive solutions with maintenance and management plans.
GREENsChOOLENERGY - Development and practical implementation of sustainable solutions for urban hotspots in combination with greening / PV / water
Use of the synergetic effects in the construction of photovoltaic, greening and irrigation systems at the location of HTL1 Klagenfurt Lastenstraße, to optimize the yield of experimental photovoltaic elements and at the same time reduce urban heat islands.
GREeNvaluation - Real-time monitoring and performance evaluation
The aim of the project was the development of the GREeNvaluation toolkit, as a precursor to the implementation of green and liveable cities. The visualization and accounting (cost / benefit) of green infrastructure services makes the benefits more tangible and understandable. The GREeNvaluation toolkit aims to create awareness far beyond the target areas by means of target group-specific communication formats.
GreEnergieausweis AT - Ways of integrating greenery into the Austrian Energy Certificate
Adaption of the calculation models in the energy certificate in such a way that the greening of buildings can be depicted as realistically as possible and assessment of the acceptance of implementation by relevant stakeholders.
Green BIM - Green building infrastructure as part of BIM-based planning and maintenance
Fusion of greenery and BIM planning to achieve a friction-free conducting and maintenance. By analysing the case studies, “Green BIM” examined to what extent typical steps in planning regarding greened buildings can be edited by characteristic software programs in a BIM-equitable way. The expected outcomes are supplements to international standards for data structures in civil engineering (IFC / ISO 16739) which are further on added to BIM applications by the software industry.
Green BIM 2. Green Information Modelling and Operation: Transformation of the Green Sector through digitalisation
With the project "Green BIM 2" the technology leap from the previous project "Green BIM" – namely the use of BIM in the field of building greening – is continued for further application fields of landscape planning and the results are transmitted into working practice.
GreenDeal4Real - Improving the thermal comfort in mixed-use areas through cost-effective green infrastructure
The aim of the project is to avoid overheating in summer by using innovative greening measures in the mixed residential and commercial area Aspernstraße/Lavaterstraße. The development of a guideline should facilitate the realisation of climate-sensitive projects from strategy to actual implementation and ensure a high degree of transferability to other areas.
GreenGEO - Data-based integration of climate change adaptation measures into spatial planning
Green and blue infrastructure (GBI) is a key instrument in the fight against climate change. Nevertheless, deciding where and in what form it should be used most effectively remains a challenge in spatial planning practice. The development of a digital model that links location-specific climate risk data with suitable GBI measure proposals will make this much easier and more objective.
HEDWIG - Collection of measurement data to assess the impact of green buildings
HEDWIG aims for the assessment of effects from green roofs and facades on buildings by using monitoring data referring to microclimate and building physics. The objective is to define validated vegetation parameters and performance indicators on indoor and outdoor level and on microclimatic relevant street space level. Standardised indicators, evaluation and analysis procedures will be elaborated.
