6D BIM-Terminal: Missing Link for the development of CO2 neutral buildings

The present project aims to close the gap between specialist consultants and Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications. For that, relevant data for cost estimation, scheduling construction planning and management or sustainable building operation and facility management, shall be added automatically to BIM elements and imported into the respective specialist planning software. This data exchange shall be carried out using IFC interface according to ÖNORM A6241-2 and the properties of the ASI properties server via a central platform, the "6D BIM-Terminal".

BIMBestand - BIM-based management of existing buildings

The objective of this research project was to develop information requirements and process descriptions for the application of BIM models related to building services in facility management and to demonstrate the lifecycle-oriented use of these models in an open BIM environment. For this purpose, software solutions for the use of IFC in the open-source platform SIMULTAN and building management software were developed and evaluated on the basis of four typical use cases.

BIMSavesEnergy - BIM-based planning-methods for the assurance of energy-efficiency in the building process

The Building Information Model (BIM) brings about fundamental changes in the planning and construction of buildings, as the common base makes it possible to work closely together across disciplines in construction projects. In this project, BIM-based planning methods were developed, which make the influence of planning decisions on energy efficiency quantifiable and controllable in the management process.

BIMaterial Process Design for Material Building Pass

Building Information Modelling supported compilation of a Material Building Pass; as a qualitative and quantitative documentation of the material composition of, and the material distribution within, a building structure. This project is a central milestone towards standardized, BIM-generated building material passes.

BIMpeco - Environmentally relevant product data in collaborative BIM environments

Construction products can pose a risk to the environment and health due to their pollutant content or releases. In the BIMpeco project, workflows and data structures for digital information management of this environmentally relevant product data are developed. For this purpose, the new ISO standards ISO 23387 and ISO 19650-1 are tested and synchronized with established process flows. The project results will be made available on an open-source basis and can be integrated into any Common Data Environment (CDE) that complies with the standards mentioned. The BIMpeco project is the first to lay the foundations for product information management of environmentally relevant properties in the CDE, covering the entire lifecycle and supply chain.

BIMstocks - Digital Urban Mining Platform: Assessing the material composition of building stocks through coupling of BIM to GIS

The main goal of BIMstocks is the development of a method for the digital capturing of the material composition of the existing building stock for follow up modelling of an Urban Mining Platform as well as for the prediction of the recycling potentials.

Beyond - Virtual Reality enabled energy services for smart energy systems

The Beyond project addressed two different energy services through the interaction of various technologies: state-of-the-art virtual reality (VR), the Internet of Things (IoT), energy simulation and machine learning (ML). Energy service 1 immerses VR users in energy-efficient and sustainable building design through an educational VR game, while energy service 2 improves the maintenance of building systems, particularly heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, through the application of ML models for predictive maintenance.

BiBi-TGA, Potential for the ecological optimization of technical building equipment through the usage of biogenic materials

Assessment of the substitution potential of conventional components of technical building equipment by biogenic materials. The aim is to provide new data on the ecological improvement potential of the usage of biogenic resources in the technical building equipment in office buildings. The potentials are analyzed by means of LCA screenings and technical feasibility studies.

Biotope City - construction manual for the green city of the future

"Biotope City" is an overall concept for the implementation of comprehensive urban greening with the aim of using the regenerative mechanisms of nature. With this approach, quality of life is to be comprehensively, sustainably and cost-effectively increased and resilience against extreme weather events in cities will be improved. The project aims to generate realistic components of a "construction manual" for the green city of the future, which are generalizable and transferable.

Building as living lab - Buildings as a living lab for climate-neutral, needs-based and affordable housing

Within ÖWG, climate protection and sustainability are strategically anchored in renovation and densification projects. A comprehensive, climate-neutral renovation concept had been developed for a specific pilot property in Graz in an open, co-creative innovation process. The building becomes a living lab in which new solutions are tested in the everyday lives of the residents.
