To achieve this, a web-based application with suitable interfaces will be developed. The foundation for this is a detailed requirement specification, which will be established through interviews, workshops, and research, linking the individual components of the application.
GreenFDT – Green Façade Digital Twin
In an interdisciplinary framework, the possibilities for optimizing the rear ventilation distance of façade greening elements and their potential impact on indoor and urban climate are being investigated. The precise and comprehensive investigation of these relationships is made possible by the extensive deployment of sensors and measuring tools and furthermore the development and integration of a digital twin in a BIM model.
GreenGEO - Data-based integration of climate change adaptation measures into spatial planning
Green and blue infrastructure (GBI) is a key instrument in the fight against climate change. Nevertheless, deciding where and in what form it should be used most effectively remains a challenge in spatial planning practice. The development of a digital model that links location-specific climate risk data with suitable GBI measure proposals will make this much easier and more objective.
HEATbucket - Urban underground thermal energy storages to enable energy transition
In urban areas, the heat supply and cooling of buildings is one of the key challenges in the course of the energy transition. With HEATbucket, a structural engineering solution is to be investigated for the realisation of underground heat storage in built-up areas. In addition to the technical challenges, the focus is on the general feasibility and the impact on the subsoil and groundwater.
Heat islands Feldbach - Synergetic measures against overheating and heavy rain in preparation for an R&D&I project in Feldbach
Analysis and evaluation of the effects and cost-benefit ratios of synergetic measures with regard to overheating and heavy rain in cities. Based on this, an implementation plan will be developed for a subsequent demonstration in Feldbach, which can be used in many similar cities.
HeinrichBiCool - Climate-positive cooling and biodiversity through intensive greening of buildings
Using the example of an existing building of the University of Graz, currently affected by overheating, the project demonstrates what greening can achieve. Comprehensive monitoring of the indoor climate, building physics, energy requirements and biodiversity before and after the greening measures provides new scientific findings on the actual effectiveness of building greening.
IK-EnErGie-Knoten - Intermunicipal Electricity and District Heating Network St. Ruprecht–Weiz–Gleisdorf
The IK-EnErGie-Knoten project is developing a sector-coupled, bidirectional energy system for the climate-neutral city of the future. The intelligent networking of existing electricity and heating infrastructures and new cooperation models that transcend property boundaries are creating a scalable energy hub that serves as a model for Austria.
IMPACT – Hybrid hydraulic and electric charging of stratified compact hot water
The IMPACT project is developing an innovative decentralised hot water storage technology for large-volume urban housing. Thanks to a novel, flat design, the system enables highly efficient utilisation of renewable energy sources such as heat pumps and photovoltaics. The aim is to create a cost-efficient, sustainable solution for decarbonising water heating that is optimised using intelligent energy management and machine learning methods.
INN'FIT4UM - Innsbruck "Fit4UrbanMission" - climate neutral Innsbruck 2030
Cities are the place where decarbonization strategies for energy, transport and buildings intersect. A few years ago, the municipality of Innsbruck set up a Smart City Group consisting of staff from the municipality, IIG, IKB and IVB to address this challenge. The goal of INN'F4UM is to develop a step-by-step plan to achieve climate neutrality for the city by 2030, building on an up-to-date representation of energy and resource flows together with the University of Innsbruck.
K3 - Climate-neutral Klagenfurt Clinic
As part of Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee's climate neutrality ambitions, the focus is on the development of climate-neutral districts with a wide variety of functions and uses in the city area. In collaboration with the state hospital operating company - KABEG, a climate neutrality roadmap for the Klagenfurt clinic district is being developed with scientific support from JOANNEUM RESEARCH Forschungsgesellschaft mbH.
KING, KlimaINnovationsstadt Graz - Strategies and actions for a climate-neutral Graz
With the preparation of a climate protection plan by autumn 2021, a central cornerstone for achieving climate neutrality in Graz has been laid. KING builds on this climate protection plan and further develops and specifies the key measures defined therein in a comprehensive participation and consultation process.
KLAIR - Dynamic Microclimate Intelligence for Sustainable Urban Development
KLAIR develops an AI-powered, dynamic urban climate map that simulates microclimatic stress as well as future scenarios such as greening or densification. By integrating climate, structural and health data, the tool enables evidence-based evaluation of adaptation measures and their health impacts. In this way, KLAIR supports cities of all sizes in climate-resilient, socially equitable and cost-efficient planning.
KLARA Amstetten: Klimaneutralitätsfahrplan Amstetten – Roadmap to Action
For the first time, goals for a climate-neutral Amstetten are defined and the necessary climate protection and climate change adaptation measures are developed and fields of action are prioritised.
KLIK - Qualification program for climate-competent cities
The KLIK project aims to raise awareness and provide further training for all administrative staff in the climate pioneer cities on the topics of "basics of climate change mitigation and adaptation", "sustainable and circular urban planning","building culture", "energy spatial planning and urban mobility", and "green finance and the EU taxonomy". The digital education program empowers administrative staff to actively shape necessary changes and make their cities climate-resilient and future-proof.
KLIMADEMO VIS-A-VIS: Participatory realization of a climate-neutral demonstration building Vis-à-Vis
Participatory development of a pilot project at the interface between climate neutrality, affordability and multi-storey wooden housing based on well-founded decision-making bases in terms of renewable materials and renewable energies. The result is a multipliable carbon neutral building and the dissemination of carbon neutrality know-how to a larger audience.
