10., Rothneusiedl - climate model district Rothneusiedl: Preparation for the planned EU mission "New European Bauhaus"
Rothneusiedl will become a pioneering district for climate protection, climate adaptation and the circular economy. The existing RothNEUsiedl Charter outlines nine principles for making the district climate-friendly and inclusive. The dialogical and integrated process involves various target groups, including the planning and construction industry, future residents and businesses, in order to establish a local building culture at an early stage. NEB working principles are applied in order to support the parallel mission statement process.
5th Gen HG - 5th Generation Heating Grid Neutal
In the 5th Gen HG project, an energy supply concept based entirely on renewable electricity and heat is to be developed for the municipality of Neutal in Burgenland and the neighbouring technology site. A newly designed 5th generation heating grid will form the local energy distribution backbone in the municipality. In addition to the technical and economic conceptualisation, the integration of local stakeholder requirements is a key feature of the project.
AI4FM - Artificial Intelligence for Facility Management
AI-based anomaly and fault detection in buildings. Digital twins of buildings with simulation models for testing and optimizing rule-based fault detection methods. Mining of the recorded time-series data from existing Building Management Systems to train Machine Learning models for fault detection.
Altmünster 2040
The municipality of Altmuenster, one of the first Climate Alliance municipalities in Upper Austria and a long-standing member of the Climate and Energy Model Region Traunsteinregion (KEM), wants to develop a municipal climate strategy with clear options for action.
BATTMON - Increasing the usable charging capacity, service life and safety of battery storage systems in urban areas
The aim of BATTMON is to develop an improved method of determining the condition of battery storage systems for applications in buildings and neighborhoods. To this end, area-based foil sensors are being developed for the spatially resolved measurement of temperature and pressure. This data will be used to estimate the state of charge and also the state of health more accurately and to detect cell damage at an early stage in order to reduce the risk of fire and explosion.
BIPV-Booster - Game changer for façade-integrated PV systems: Development of proof-free constructions regarding fire protection
The central result of the project will be the development of a catalogue of “proof-free constructions” with regard to fire protection for façade-integrated photovoltaic systems, particularly for the more difficult case of high-rise buildings. These constructions will be defined in the project and tested in fire tests. The fire tests are to be supplemented by electrical and material-related module tests before and after the fire tests.
Baden climate neutral - Climate neutrality roadmap Baden near Vienna
The city aims to become climate-neutral by 2040.
Bregenz 2040 climate neutrality roadmap focussing on the electricity and heating transition, mobility and public acceptance
The central goal of the project is to create a consistent, comprehensive, and feasible roadmap to achieve climate neutrality in Bregenz by 2040.
CITYGovernance - Adjustments in the innovation ecosystem around regulatory framework conditions
The aim of the R&D service was to gain insights on obstacles and barriers to the overarching governance for achieving the goal of "climate neutrality of Austrian cities", to structure them and to prepare them in a publishable study. The study focuses on the areas of energy, buildings and mobility and contain recommendations for action on the necessary framework conditions and need for change.
Carbon Accounting Pioneer Cities - carbon accounting and climate neutral cities
With the mission climate neutral cities the Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology has set a focus that will accelerate the achievement of climate and energy goals through research, technology and innovation. As part of this mission, the Environment Agency Austria will accompany and support the pioneer cities in creating a harmonized GHG balance sheet for cities. The harmonized GHG accounting forms the basis for the targeted alignment of strategies and measures to achieve climate neutrality in cities and communities.
Circular Bio Floor- Floor construction made from biomaterials
In this project biogenic building materials from wood industry waste and geopolymer binders are developed that can be used as tamped fill or 3D-printed dry-screed elements in timber construction. These materials offer functional benefits and an excellent eco-balance, contribute to the conservation of forests and enable the production of separable and reusable floor segment panels using digital manufacturing technologies. That significantly reduces the consumption of primary raw materials.
City – Country – Climate: Four districts, one joint roadmap for a climate-neutral Gratwein-Straßengel
The aim is to initiate a structured and effective path towards climate neutrality 2035+ in the market town. In the context of the project, climate neutrality includes the topics of neighbourhoods and buildings, mobility and energy.
Climate Hub Vienna - Concept development and preparation of an innovation laboratory to accelerate Vienna’s path to climate neutrality
Preparation of an urban innovation laboratory to support decarbonisation in Vienna by 2040. The focus is on systemic innovation and accelerated roll-out of RTI projects through infrastructure, services, networking and the systematic involvement of city administration and users. The innovation lab is intended to strengthen the effectiveness of innovations and the participation of the Viennese in the transformation.
Climate Pioneer City Graz (KPS_Graz)
As an integral part of the ongoing Climate Change Mitigation Plan Graz process, the Climate Pioneer City Graz project with the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) will make a noticeable contribution to ensuring that the planned local processes and measures to achieve climate neutrality are implemented more quickly. This will be achieved primarily through the financing of additional climate protection experts in the city administration.
Climate Scan District - Exploration and evaluation of potential districts regarding their suitability as a pioneer district
The "Climate Scan District" project aims to select the most suitable pioneer district in Dornbirn by applying the klima:aktiv criteria catalog for climate-neutral districts. This supports the city's transformation to climate neutrality by 2040. Extensive district profiles, action plans, and future visions are developed to create a well-founded and comprehensive basis for decision-making.
Climate Strategy 2040 by and with the municipality of Vöcklabruck
The municipality of Vöcklabruck is one of the first Climate Alliance municipalities in Upper Austria, a long-standing member of the Vöckla-Ager Climate and Energy Model Region (KEM) and regularly implements measures and projects in the field of climate protection.
