Braunau 2040

The city of Braunau am Inn is one of the first Climate Alliance municipalities in Upper Austria, a long-standing member of a climate and energy model region and regularly implements measures and projects in the area of climate action and protection (energy concept, mobility concept, etc.). Together with the Climate Alliance Upper Austria, the municipality of Braunau am Inn would now like to develop a municipal climate neutrality roadmap with clear options for action for the coming years.

The process initially aims to ensure that the municipal players in politics and administration are well coordinated for the cross-cutting issues of climate protection and climate change adaptation and to enable an agreed, comprehensible and implementation-oriented approach.

As a result, the climate neutrality roadmap should be understood as an operational roadmap and implementation plan that sets out the most concrete measures and projects possible up to 2040. This plan is to be submitted to a municipal council resolution and taken into accountwill be reflected accordingly in the medium-term financial planning.

I am pleased that the municipality of Braunau can lead the way as a pioneering small town and develop strategies and measures as part of the “Climate Neutral City” mission to become climate neutral as quickly as possible. We are actively committed to reaching our climate and energy goals and thus ensuring the quality of life in our city.

The municipality is actively involved in the process., Tthe Upper Austrian Climate Alliance will support the content-related and methodological development through workshops on the topics of development in terms of content and methodology by means of workshops in the areas of mobility, energy and buildings, soil and climate change adaptation, data management as well as procurement, supply and disposal measures and awareness-raising and will prepare the results together with the municipality so that a climate strategy can finally be adopted in the committees (committee, city council and municipal council).

In addition to the administration in the municipality, climate ideas from the population are also in demandwelcome and the organization of a climate council based on the Vorarlberg model is planned as a participation participatory format.

As a result, we expect a document tailored to the city of Braunau am Inn that serves as a broadly coordinated guideline and signpost for politics and administration in the direction of climate neutrality.
