CO2 free Deutschlandsberg 2040

The city of Deutschlandsberg has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2040 and is developing a climate neutrality roadmap to ensure climate-resilient urban development. This plan is also intended to combine the expected population growth, due to the commissioning of the Koralm railway at the end of 2025, while maintaining a high quality of life.

(Stadt Deutschlandsberg)

Achieving the climate targets is a joint effort and the city administration must be a driving force and serve as a role model.

In order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality, concrete actions for the gradual decarbonisation of the city will be implemented, appropriate administrative structures for carrying out the projects will be established, any necessary capacity and competence development within the administration will be clarified and financing options will be explored.

In addition to a city-wide vision, the roadmap should also include strategies and measures in the areas of energy, mobility, buildings, urban development & spatial planning, as well as innovative measures related to climate change adaptation and soil protection.

Beyond measures within the city's direct sphere of influence, initiatives involving key local stakeholders and neighbouring municipalities will also be promoted as part of the city's overall efforts.

The main result is a realisable climate neutrality roadmap for the city of Deutschlandsberg, which contains an implementation roadmap for the 2040 time horizon. This is designed as a living document, which will be further developed in the following years by the city in cooperation with the identified stakeholders and regularly updated and adapted in terms of goals, fields of action and measures in response to changing conditions and opportunities.
