CELL4LIFE - Reversible SOCs as a link between electricity, heat and gas networks to increase the self-sufficiency and resilience of neighbourhoods
A system consisting of a solid oxide fuel cell and a Machine Learning-based control system for increasing efficiency and minimizing degradation is being developed. As a link between all energy supply networks, the system is intended to increase the self-sufficiency and resilience of plus-energy districts.

The CEPA energy facade is an innovative building refurbishment system with an external active energy level. The aim is to revolutionize the refurbishment market. The development of the system focuses on holistic solutions for the thermal-energetic refurbishment of buildings.
CHALLENGE - Highly efficient use of hot gas and waste heat in air/water heat pumps for plus-energy buildings and quarters
CHALLENGE aims to further develop the system concept for air-to-water heat pumps in such a way that they can be used efficiently and without the above mentioned negative effects in densely built-up urban areas. In concrete terms, validated simulations and a functional model of the overall system on a laboratory scale are to be used to demonstrate that the concept can save 10% of electrical energy, reduce the noise of outdoor units in summer to a minimum and prevent the formation of local heat islands.

The city of Deutschlandsberg has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2040 and is developing a climate neutrality roadmap to ensure climate-resilient urban development. This plan is also intended to combine the expected population growth, due to the commissioning of the Koralm railway at the end of 2025, while maintaining a high quality of life.
COOL-QUARTER-PLUS - GHG-neutral cooling of office and research quarters
Development of systems for the emission-neutral cooling of office, research and urban quarters on the basis of photovoltaic or geothermal energy supply and user integration. Life cycle cost calculations and analyses of grey and operational greenhouse gas emissions allow a holistic assessment.

A church building complex is becoming a prototype for combining monument preservation with new types of use. The Climate Pioneer Districts Graz (KPQ Graz) project is preparing the development of the districts "ÖBB Eastern Railway Station" and "Smart City North-West" in Graz towards climate neutrality.
