MUFUWU Stadtbaum - Development, evaluation of multifunctional urban tree habitat in existing streets. Root zone, retention, microclimate
Applied research and development of a construction concept for road construction that enables the establishment of large-crowned urban trees and is tailored to specific local requirements, such as metrological, geological, and climatic conditions. The results are taken as a basis for a standard construction concept for densely built urban areas.
MURREAL: Murtaler Reallabor - On the way to 100% renewable energy by 2040
MURREAL connects the actors of the industrial region Murtal with specialists in the field of high tech and materials with the raw material and energy sector, service providers and research and development. In this exploration for a real laboratory, synergies had been worked out and business models had been built up to consistently take the path towards 100% renewable energy and climate neutrality by 2040.
MaBo - material saving in bored piles - a contribution to reducing CO2-emissions in the construction industry
Development of an innovative method for saving material in bored piles in order to reduce CO2 emissions in the construction industry. By optimizing the construction methods and using alternative materials, the sustainability of the foundation bodies is to be improved.
MasSan - Feasibility study of serial renovation concepts & models in Austria
Feasibility study to present and analyze the framework conditions and potential of serial renovations of large-volume buildings. The findings from the national pilot projects as well as the international / German projects and models are extracted and checked for their feasibility in the Austrian context and the requirements are prepared.
MehrWertStrom 2030 - PV-Community system - Exploring a participatory pilot project with regional added value for structurally weak regions
The "MehrWertStrom 2030" project analysed the legal, technical, organizational and economic feasibility of PV community joint venture facilities on multi-party buildings including the added value for structurally weak regions and developed innovative solutions related to organization, financing and realization.
ModularHeatNet: Roadmap for zone-specific heat supply in the existing Ottensheim Mitte neighbourhood – renewable & scalable
The aim of the project is to support Ottensheim in phasing out fossil fuels and developing a "climate-neutral" heat supply. As a result, the community will receive a solid decision-making basis based on the technical, economic, organizational, and environmental comparison of the examined heat supply approaches.
Monitoring of multi-family houses “Tonpfeifengasse”
Evaluation of activated building parts as heat storage for renewable energy shown on the example of the multi-family houses "Tonpfeifengasse".
Move2Grid – Implementation of regional energy-supply-concepts by hybrid coupling
Based on the results of the national-funded exploratory projects called “Smart Exergy Leoben”, and “Energy Sponge Bruck”, the present implementation project aims at analysing how local, renewable resources support the supply of electric mobility in Leoben in the long term and to integrate it into the municipal distribution grid in a good economic sense.
Multi-WP – High-efficiency multivalent heat pump concepts for the thermal use of external air with geothermal storage
Optimization of multi-WP systems consisting of air-source heat pumps and geothermal storage with regard to increasing flexibility and efficiency from 30 kW for individual buildings as well as neighbourhood solutions and addressing aspects such as PV utilization optimization, mode of operation, utilization conflicts and noise pollution from air-source heat pumps. The project will establish the use of the heat source external air in combination with seasonal storage as a particularly efficient alternative for heating, cooling and hot water supply.
NEB-Tischlerei-Melk - Development of a former joinery site into a multipliable European lighthouse NEB neighbourhood
The former production site of the Fürst Möbel GmbH shall be transformed into a climate-neutral, multifunctional, scalable mixed-use NEB city quarter. This quarter called “Tischlerei Melk” is intended to achieve the highest ambition levels of the NEB compass and to position and represent Austria strongly in this context. As the area is located next to the world-famous Abbey of Melk, the project has the potential to become an internationally known best-practice solution.
NEBKrit - Quality criteria for buildings and neighbourhoods on the basis of the New European Bauhaus
Develop criteria of aesthetics and social inclusion based on the values of the New European Bauhaus to complement existing sustainability criteria in order to evaluate buildings and neighbourhoods more broadly. Since todayʼs necessary transformation of the economy always includes cultural and social aspects, such a broader assessment makes more sense than todayʼs usual methods.
NEBKritQ - New European Bauhaus Quality Criteria for Sustainable Urban Development
The aim of the NEBKritQ project is to develop quality criteria and process recommendations for sustainable neighborhood development based on the dimensions of the New European Bauhaus (ecological sustainability, aesthetics, social inclusion), which can be used for both the evaluation and the project development and application process of neighborhood development projects.
NETSE - User orientated development of technologies and services for energy communities
In the NETSE project the basics for the implementation of energy communities are developed. This includes the relevant technical equipment and interfaces, the development of a platform for the operation of an energy community as well as tools for the optimization of the technical setup and the operation of energy communities.
NaNu3 - Parametric Planning for a Sustainable Roof (Blue, Grey and Green)
Demonstration of the feasibility and validation of a parametric model that can evaluate the practical and financial feasibility of the combined use of roof areas as well as its microclimate and environmental effectiveness at an early planning stage.
OWA’s future - Otto Wagner Area: A trend-setting transformation from a medical institution into a NEB neighbourhood
Development of qualitative and quantitative planning objectives as well as an implementation strategy for the transformation of the Otto Wagner Area along the New European Bauhaus guidelines. The basis is formed by interdisciplinary expert forums, which provide important insights for the necessary transformation of existing areas and buildings in other cities as well.
OctoAI: The next generation of high-performance edge AI for smart buildings
Current IoT (Internet of Things) solutions for buildings depend almost exclusively on cloud infrastructure and cloud-based services.
