A roadmap consisting of technical concepts and a coordinated financing strategy will provide the basis for a demo project that demonstrates in practice how the Zukunftshof can be the starting point and basis for resource-efficient and climate-resilient urban development.
KPQ goes NEB – Transformation of a Climate Pioneer Existing Neighborhood Using NEB Quality Criteria (Based on KPQ Graz)
With the "Climate Pioneer City Graz" (KPS Graz) project, the City of Graz is pursuing the strategic implementation of its climate protection plan by developing climate-neutral neighbourhoods, among other things. Based on the ongoing exploratory project "KPQ Graz", "KPQ goes NEB" focuses on the climate-neutral transformation of the Roseggersiedlung - a residential neighbourhood owned by Wohnen Graz dating back to the 1940s with 395 residential units. The aim is to transfer tried-and-tested development processes from new-build and conversion projects to the more complex environment of an existing neighbourhood.
KaTaSi - Exploratory Project: Opportunities for the Renovation and Upgrading of the Kanaltaler Settlement in St. Veit
With this exploratory project, the city of St. Veit aims to establish a best practice – preserving existing qualities and adding new ones, addressing structural, physical, urban planning, architectural, and other challenges – while ensuring ecological, social, and economic sustainability.
Kapfenberg_2_zeroCO2 - Creation of the 2040 climate neutrality plan for the industrial city of Kapfenberg
For the industrial city of Kapfenberg in Upper Styria with over 22,000 residents, achieving climate neutrality is both challenging and necessary. The companies of Kapfenberg have been heavily reliant on fossil fuels. Implementation of climate protection measures is essential for their future viability and for maintaining a high quality of life for the population of Kapfenberg.
KliB40-Climate Compass: Climate-neutral Bregenz 2040, climate compass for the structured participation of stakeholders and the citizens
The "KliB40 Climate Compass" supports Bregenz on its path to climate neutrality by 2040 through transparent development, selection, and monitoring of measures. It facilitates the coordination of climate protection activities and actively involves stakeholders. By evaluating existing software solutions, the project ensures optimal digital support for planning and implementing the city's climate strategy.
LOW TECH innovation-lab - real laboratory for the transformation to climate and resource-saving energy regions with innovative LOW TECH solutions
LOW TECH innovation-lab aims to set up an innovation laboratory in which innovative model solutions are developed, tested and widely rolled out in cooperation with suitable pilot regions on the basis of an optimized approach with regard to the use of technology on the one hand and the potential of the circular economy, local environmental resources and social innovations on the other.
LZE 100 Lighthouse Objects - Long-term evaluation of the energy consumption of 100 energy-efficient buildings in Austria as a representative cross-section of Austrian lighthouse objects
Collection, evaluation and analysis of energy consumption data from 100 energy-efficient buildings in Austria over an operating time of 3 to 25 years as a representative cross-section of Austrian lighthouse objects. Differentiation according to building types, energy sources and determination of real greenhouse gas emissions. Comparison of the measured consumption to benchmark values.
LehmKur - Rammed earth walls for multi-storey residential buildings
Research of a lighthouse project consisting of rammed earth-timber exterior wall components with accompanying ecological life cycle analysis, building physics simulations and documentation of the necessary logistical, building law, fire and soundproofing measures.
LoPQ - Local Heat together - Pioneer Quarters for Neighborhood Heat and Colling Supply and Quarter Renovation
LoPQ develops integrated supply and renovation concepts for urban quarters by coupling anergy networks with renewable energy sources. From 20 initial sites, five pilot quarters will be selected for detailed feasibility studies, with one final quarter proposed for a follow-up R&D&I project. The interdisciplinary consortium combines expertise in technology, geosciences, and economics to create inaugural, holistic operating and financing models. Scaling these solutions addresses an investment volume of €1.9 billion and a CO2 reduction potential of approximately 25,600 t per year.
M-DAB2: Material intensity of inner development - resource assessment and localization of urban development potentials
For the first time, the material intensity of inner development (in terms of material quantities) for different design variants was considered in the evaluation of inner development potentials. A set of methods for the holistic evaluation of potential areas and different development variants and scenarios for resource-saving inner development was created.
MARGRET - Measurement of greened/non-greened objects for the adaptation of calculation models
Development of measurement methods to determine the influence of greening measures on greened versus non-greened reference objects with contemporary building standards under uniform framework conditions. Proposals for adaptations of calculation models or standards to e.g. enable an integration in the energy performance certificate.
MARGRET Bioshade - Building Physics-Based Quantification of the Shading and Cooling Performance of Building Greening
The MARGRET Bioshade project investigates the impact of building greening on energy efficiency, climate adaptation, and building assessment. Its focus is on quantifying the shading performance of vertical greening systems, analyzing the water balance and evaporative cooling effects of different greening solutions, and developing standardized parameters for planning, simulation, and technical guidelines.
