Designing Synergies. Spatial and Energetic Transformation Scenarios for Small Towns and Municipalities Using the Example of the Wagram Region (Lower Austria).
An interdisciplinary exploratory project that synergistically analyses strategies for the activation of vacant buildings and the potential for the formation of small-scale energy communities. The starting point is student projects from the Institute of Architecture and Design, TU Wien, for four municipalities in the Wagram region. On this basis, an interdisciplinary team of experts is developing a concept for a synergy cluster focussing on spatial energy planning, building physics, the circular economy and social innovation.
CITYGovernance - Adjustments in the innovation ecosystem around regulatory framework conditions
The aim of the R&D service was to gain insights on obstacles and barriers to the overarching governance for achieving the goal of "climate neutrality of Austrian cities", to structure them and to prepare them in a publishable study. The study focuses on the areas of energy, buildings and mobility and contain recommendations for action on the necessary framework conditions and need for change.
LEIWAND - Local decisions for socio-ecological infrastructure change
Political-economic analysis of decision-making processes in mobility and land use. The interests of various stakeholders are identified, and proposals for improved decision-making in the context of a socio-ecological transformation are developed.
ESG-STADTLABOR as a driver of technology and innovation for the climate-neutral city
The primary objective of the ESG-STADTLABOR is to lay the foundations for ESG-compliant urban development and urban administration, to develop innovative strategies that support sustainable and socially urban development, while increasing efficiency and trustworthiness in administration.
Gemma K! - Pilot initiative “Gemeinschaf(f)t Klimaschutz”
In three Styrian climate pioneer cities, citizens are empowered to establish climate protection communities as multipliers in their respective contexts (e.g. associations) and to join others in taking action for the climate.
RaumCoop 2.0 - Space Cooperative, a systematic operational model for activating unused or underutilized spaces.
The RaumCoop organizes the sharing of spaces, mobilizes underutilized spaces for non-residential purposes in the ground floor area, and makes them available for temporary use at affordable conditions. The goal of the project is to establish this non-profit organization.
National ‘governance matrix’ for the mapping and display, optimization, and funding of spatial and urban planning across institutions (BW STMX STB)
Development of an interactive governance matrix for the nationwide mapping, registration and optimization of programs and funding tools for spatial planning at every scale. By creating transparency as well as placing existing policies and governance tools in relation to one another, the matrix offers an overview across departments and institutions that allows synergies to be utilized and gaps to be closed.
