Climate turnaround Bruck - Climate neutrality roadmap 2040 for the Bruck an der Mur conurbation to mitigate conflicts of use
Short Description

Bruck is located in the centre of the industrial agglomeration Mur/Mürz Furche and is thus one of the most important transport hubs in the region. Due to the topographical location, public facilities, residential and leisure areas for citizens, trade and tourism as well as transport infrastructure have to coexist sustainably in a very confined space next to energy-intensive industrial sites.
On the one hand, this causes significant advantages through short distances and integrative development. On the other hand, however, it also creates conflicts of use. The development of climate neutrality roadmap until 2040 is perceived as a chance to dissolve existing conflicts of use, and at the same time a chance to increase the quality of living, working, and transport.
The city of Bruck an der Mur, located in the heart of the central industrial region at the confluence of the Mürz and Mur rivers, is a centre of change and innovation. By initiating a climate neutrality roadmap by 2040, we are taking decisive action against the many challenges of our time. This pioneering project will help us to develop into an even more liveable city.

PDCA4Future - Feasibility Study for a Climate-Resilient Urban District in Bruck an der Mur through a New Planning and Financing Approach
Using the Hannes-Bammer-Sports Hall as a case study, the PDCA4Future feasibility project in Bruck an der Mur aims to develop an innovative planning and assessment tool. This involves creating renovation and financing models that align climate neutrality goals with sustainable urban planning. The objective is a fact-based and replicable investment decision (renovation vs. new construction).
Project duration: 2025 - 2026
