Climate-School-Life - Preparation of the climate-neutral educational campus in Gratwein-Straßengel

The project aims to start the transformation process of the educational campus of the market town of Gratwein-Straßengel into climate-neutrality. The need for the expansion and modernisation of the elementary school forms the central part of this development. The project provides an integrated district concept for the four central infrastructure topics of the project: urban development, architecture, mobility and energy. Participation processes of the population and innovative financing models are further components of the exploration.

ClimateConcrete Bregenz - Model development of transferable NEB quality processes for climate-resilient urban districts in Bregenz

KlimaKonkret Bregenz is not a traditional planning project; rather, it develops a clear framework for quality and decision-making in future urban development. Its aim is to bring together topics such as climate resilience, mobility, building culture, and social issues in a way that enables policymakers and administrators to make well-informed, sustainable long-term decisions. This results in concrete tools, such as binding quality criteria in accordance with NEBKritQ and—where appropriate—a design guideline derived from these criteria for future projects.

CoSpatial Heat - Joint spatial coordination of heat supply in Gleisdorf

CoSpatial Heat is developing an integrated, geodata-based heating and gas supply planning concept for the Gleisdorf region. By jointly considering space heating, process heat, and gas infrastructure, future supply, expansion, and decommissioning areas are identified. The systemic integration of GIS analyses, consumption data, energy audits, and stakeholder knowledge generates robust decision-making foundations for municipalities, industry, and network operators.

Designing Synergies. Spatial and Energetic Transformation Scenarios for Small Towns and Municipalities Using the Example of the Wagram Region (Lower Austria).

An interdisciplinary exploratory project that synergistically analyses strategies for the activation of vacant buildings and the potential for the formation of small-scale energy communities. The starting point is student projects from the Institute of Architecture and Design, TU Wien, for four municipalities in the Wagram region. On this basis, an interdisciplinary team of experts is developing a concept for a synergy cluster focussing on spatial energy planning, building physics, the circular economy and social innovation.

JAKUB & LEVI - Development of an Innovative Climate-Neutral Neighborhood in the Settlement Area

"Jakub & Levi" is a transdisciplinary project developed for underutilized parish and community properties in the center of Unterretzbach. It combines innovative housing and usage concepts with mobility alternatives, sustainable energy supply, and the use of local materials. Established social structures from the village community are adopted and enriched with urban living concepts. The project provides a transferable model for sustainable neighborhood development in rural regions.

KLIK - Qualification program for climate-competent cities

The KLIK project aims to raise awareness and provide further training for all administrative staff in the climate pioneer cities on the topics of "basics of climate change mitigation and adaptation", "sustainable and circular urban planning","building culture", "energy spatial planning and urban mobility", and "green finance and the EU taxonomy". The digital education program empowers administrative staff to actively shape necessary changes and make their cities climate-resilient and future-proof.

National ‘governance matrix’ for the mapping and display, optimization, and funding of spatial and urban planning across institutions (BW STMX STB)

Development of an interactive governance matrix for the nationwide mapping, registration and optimization of programs and funding tools for spatial planning at every scale. By creating transparency as well as placing existing policies and governance tools in relation to one another, the matrix offers an overview across departments and institutions that allows synergies to be utilized and gaps to be closed.

Using the Hannes-Bammer-Sports Hall as a case study, the PDCA4Future feasibility project in Bruck an der Mur aims to develop an innovative planning and assessment tool. This involves creating renovation and financing models that align climate neutrality goals with sustainable urban planning. The objective is a fact-based and replicable investment decision (renovation vs. new construction).

Path to the future DEMO: Climate-Ready Future in Condominium Ownership - The path to Socio-Ecological Transformation

The project integrates technical, legal, economic, and social science approaches to develop and pilot practical, transferable tools that support and qualify key stakeholders involved in renovation and decarbonization projects within condominium owners’ associations (COAs, in German: Wohnungs­eigentümer­gemeinschaften, or short WEGs). The aim is to activate, empower, and strengthen the participating actors throughout the entire renovation process as joint drivers of the energy transition in the existing building stock.

The development and close integration of an actors-, project-, data-, and knowledge-hub enables the piloting and evaluation of innovative, transferable solutions for integrated neighborhood development.

RENO moveup - Mobilisation, Networking, and Practical Implementation for Climate-Neutral, Life-Cycle-Oriented Construction with Impact

RENOmoveup aims to build an active community that drives the transition to a climate-neutral, life cycle-oriented construction sector through strong mobilisation and clearly structured networking and knowledge-sharing formats. To achieve this, key EU directives are translated into practical, accessible formats, concrete implementation strategies are developed, and these are supported by roadmaps, pilot groups, and factsheets.
