MidSKliN – Minimally invasive dynamic rehabilitation taking into account climate change adaptation, CO₂ emissions and grid compatibility
Short Description
Contents and goals
The goal is to realise around 80% of the CO2 savings potential (Pareto principle) and sustainably comfortable solutions at only 20% of the cost of conventional high-quality renovations while at the same time contributing to heat reduction through active and passive cooling strategies.
Methods
The focus is on modern heat pumps, heat pump radiators with cooling functions or activated old radiators, PV balcony systems, storage solutions, and electric hot water and heating systems.
By using new comfort models, for example, using fans and user-adapted measures, even highly economical cooling strategies can be evaluated and integrated. Usually, elusive arguments like CO2 savings are hardy increasing user acceptance, but measurements improving comfort in the summer, reducing operating costs, gaining autonomy and economic feasibility are often more convincing.
Expected results
Real-life tests in single-family homes and apartment blocks in partnership with a large housing developer and the inclusion of other legal forms (residential property law, tenancy law), including the resulting hurdles, ensure broad practicability.
A dynamically optimised, realistic building technology strategy that enables the transition to climate-friendly buildings at a reasonable cost - without full refurbishment - that is technically scalable, economically viable and socially gender-equitable, including for the 'older generation'.
