Climate neutrality roadmap Klosterneuburg
Short Description

The city has been actively committed to CO₂ reduction for years, is an e5 municipality, and a member of the KEM region "Zukunftsraum Wienerwald". The 2030 Urban Development Concept was adopted in 2019 – with goals such as efficient land use, maintaining the level of green space, promoting energy efficiency, and sustainable mobility.
In this project, Klosterneuburg aims to consolidate its current path and consistently pursue it further, because the city is aware that it must assume responsibility in the areas of climate protection and climate change adaptation, and that this is the only way to achieve the necessary social and economic transformation.
The goal is to implement Austria's climate and energy targets in the anteroom of a metropolitan area – with low industry but high commuter traffic, a strong service sector, developed agriculture and forestry, and nature park regulations. Innovative measures are planned in the areas of energy-efficient, intergenerational housing, the expansion of renewable energy (electricity and heat), e-mobility in public transport, landscaping, biodiversity, and climate change adaptation.
A climate neutrality roadmap is being developed, including a vision, implementation strategy, and short-, medium-, and long-term measures (directly and indirectly effective). This will be supplemented by an overview of financing options (especially for the first two years), adapted administrative structures and processes, and measures for awareness-raising, communication, and participation.
